Music is a tricky business. It must be present just enough to support the scene, accentuating it to further glory, while not crunch up too much space and come out dominant. On the flipside, absence of music in its adequacy is a strongly felt void. Walking the tight-rope is a task in itself, but excelling in the arena is a biggie's game. That's exactly what the 21 year old stepped into, swept the whole world like a fairytale-come-true, with one simple composition. For those who could have underestimated the lanky lad, today we know what Anirudh is made of. But come to think, this kid is only about a dozen movies old in the industry, but is the unequivocal front-runner in the entertainment biz. What is it that makes Anirudh stand out in the race?

Be it a rom-com, be it tight action, or a romantic bouquet of lilies, or the sheer love for homeland, Anirudh nailed it, right on the dot. But the edge that Anirudh offers in his package, over the others in the market, is his background score bonanza. It is irrefutable truth that for a movie to feel complete, it must touch the soul in its deepest corners; and what reaches out better than music does? Although his baby steps were on a bed of romantic roses, the successive projects kept throwing one hard brick of a challenge after another, at him. But it is not only the album in question here; for a man conducting the BGM, it is the onus of the entire movie's appeal on his shoulders.

What impacted the audience of '3', is the depth of the scenes. Everyone was thrilled to watch 'Ethir Neechal' and credited the director for a racy screenplay. 'Irandam Ulagam' gathered only limited but critical acclaim. for its edgy fantasy. 'Vellaiyilla Pattathari' was a movie full of such emotions which every student could relate to, 'Kaththi' is a heart-wrenching tale of farmers's agony. And so on... Do you see the trend?

Just as much as we may dismiss it to be of little concern, background score forms the spine of a story. Behind the success of each of these movies, was hours of hard work on pitching the right notes for a neat score. As he stands tall today in all the fame, Anirudh is credited by and large for his music, and specifically lauded and sought after, for his prowess as a technical genius in putting soul into the story. Such is the impact of his score that the collection of which, in itself, is an affair of fanfare.

So what describes him the best - a tech genius, director to consecutive albums of chart busters, internationally successful performer, a soulful musician,or an arduously passionate composer? Everything. It is the concoction of all these unique winner traits that make up the young genius, the rockstar, and the humble human that Anirudh is.
