Entire nation is mourning the loss of India's first Chief Of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, who passed away on Wednesday in a helicopter accident. Gen Rawat was one of the highly accomplished officers that India has ever produced and his words about the portrayal of armed forces in popular media are going to stay forever with the cinema and armed forces enthusiasts.
During the promotion of Captain Vikaram Batra's biopic 'Shershah', Gen Rawat welcomed the idea of movies based on real life heroes and he looked forward to more of such examples. "We are thrilled that a film has been made on the life of Captain Vikram Batra. We would like to thank all of them (the team). This is just the beginning. We hope just like this, many more films are made on other war heroes," said Gen Rawat.
Being hopeful of the future, the late General had said, "In the coming years, we wish that films are made on other war heroes, not just of Kargil but even the 1971 war and others. Those 527 soldiers who sacrificed their lives will be happy to see the way they are being given a tribute."
Gen Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other members of the armed forces lost their lives after their helicopter crashed in Tamil Nadu while enroute to Defence Staff College, Wellington.
