In 2009, a leading Tamil magazine published an article in which actresses were portrayed in a bad light. A meeting was convened to condemn this by the then Nadigar Sangam President Sarathkumar, in which actors Sathyaraj, Suriya and others spoke against the press persons.

In response to this, journalist Rozario Maria Soosai filed a case in the Ooty Court but none of the actors appeared for any of the hearing.

The court then issued a non-bailable warrant against the eight actors, following which the High Court issued an interim order that stopped execution of the same. Suriya and the others had filed another petition in the High Court praying for dismissal of the case which came up for hearing today. The High Court has now squashed the case, bringing relief to Suriya & Co.
