Reliance ventures into Malayalam

Reliance Entertainments is venturing into Malayalam with the proud new film by world famous director Shaji N Karun. The film which will feature Mammootty in the lead is titled 'Kutty Sharanku'. The film which will have the super star in the title role will also feature three heroines including a Sreelankan actress. Planned to start its shoot by the mid of March, the film will get completed by the August of 2008.

The movie will be shot in three schedules in and around the famous Vembanad Kayal, the picturesque lake stretching from Alappuzha to Kumarakom and in Kuttanad area of Kerala. The famous story of the movie is set in the 1950's which also have the weather playing an important part. Shaji is planning to have the premiere of 'Kutty Sharanku’ in the famous Venice film festival.

This is the first ever production by Anil Ambani's newly launched entertainment concern, Reliance Entertainment in Malayalam. Grapevine says that the script for the film is a joint venture being by the director and the noted British critic Farukh Dhondy (of Bandit Queen fame).The other highlight is that this is the first time the great talents of Mollywood, Mammootty and Shaji is teaming up for a film.
