Will there ever be some decent publicity for this film? That's the question you end up asking to yourself as you find yet another promising Jimmy Shergill moving first stuck in the cans for months and then suffering from zero publicity while being readied for release. There was a press conference and a music launch of 'Rehguzar - The Road To Destiny' but that's about it as after that there was no sign of 'Rehguzar' in any media channel. Nevertheless, the title itself makes one interested in the film that has Saloni Aswani [Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya, Saawan - The Love Season' play the lead heroine opposite Jimmy. Aadesh Srivastava and Nusrat Badr who have recently worked together in 'Alag' pair up again.
1) Habibi Habibi [Aadesh Shrivastava, Alisha Chinai]
It's time for yet another 'Sharara Sharara' as Aadesh Srivastava dons the hat of a singer too and pairs up with 'Kajrare' woman Alisha Chinai. With a distinct Middle East feel to it, 'Habibi Habibi' is a catchy number that has rhythm as its strength which gains from the melodious feel given to it. Both Aadesh and Alisha do well to come up with a lively rendition for this number that now requires some decent choreography to make it noticeable.
2) Rehguzar [Sukhwinder Singh]
Title song 'Rehguzar' comes up next and with Sukhwinder Singh as the singer, one expects a soulful rendition straight from the heart. The song indeed meets the expectations as Sukhwinder sings with his heart in while Aadesh's tune is truly different and belongs to fusion/lounge genre. He comes up with one of his best sung songs in recent times and pitches the song amazingly from beginning to finish with the track reaching its crescendo at the sound of 'Rabba Rabba'. This is THE song that deserves to be much better promoted. Boasting of good meaningful lyrics about life and the road to be traveled, this theme song should form a part of the film's background score and appear at multiple instances in the film.
3) Pyaar Bhara Khat [Abhijeet]
After Sukhwinder Singh when Abhijeet arrives for a solo, expectations from the album only increase further. There is a feel of peace for the first one minute of the song with light music playing on throughout. But this is not all as the song continues to build on the start with Abhijeet taking the center stage. He is just amazing in his low pitched rendition where one can actually feel the love and loneliness of the man who is far away from his home, his country and is reading the letters received from far away. With very good lyrics by Nusrat Badr to boast, it is second excellent song in succession after the title song and one wonders why is the music company not promoting the songs at all!?
4) Woh Chand Pe Titli [Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghoshal]
There are A.R. Rehman's influences galore in 'Woh Chand Pe Titli' that has musical arrangements similar to 'Dil Hai Chota Sa [Roja]'. Never mind the inspiration as the composition by Aadesh is amongst his best as Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghoshal give voice to some poetic beauty by Nusrat Badr. A feel good melodious number that necessitates some scenic locations where the song would be choreographed, it helps making 'Rehguzar' a 'paisa vasool' album.
5) Meri Bechainiyaan [Shaan, Alka Yagnik]
When two of the best singers in Bollywood today come together after number of other songs have already made a good impression then expectations are definitely high. Sadly, 'Meri Bechainiyaan' is predictable from the very first note with extremely average lyrics, some ordinary singing and disappointing music. A core Bollywood 'sing-around-the-trees-and-dance-in-the-break' number, it just doesn't fly and should be there just for the proje
