Actor-director Cheran is fully immersed with Maya Kannadi. A pet project of Cheran being produced by Chellamae Celluloids, features Navya Nair opposite him.

A major portion of the movie has been completed. Interestingly unlike his earlier movies, Maya Kannadi would happen in Chennai city.

On casting Navya Nair for the role, Cheran says, "It was a fine experience to work with Navya in an off-beat film Aadum Koothu, which will have a round in the festival before finding the theatres. Among the lot, Navya is one of the most talented. The Kerala State award is a well earned one for her. She has been doing good films and look forward to push her talents further."

Throwing more light on the movie, Cheran says, "it is a modern story in a middle class family, something I have never attempted before. A new challenge is how I see it. I have created an image consciously right from my Solla Maranda Kadhai days. It is pleasant to work again with seasoned producer like Panchu Arunachalam."
