The Kerala Police has booked popular Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu after an actress levelled serious sexual allegations again him. According to the case, which was registered by the actress in Ernakulam South police station on April 22, she had been sexually assaulted by Vijay Babu in a flat in Kochi, on the pretext of offering her roles in his movies. The woman alleged that she was brutally raped after forcefully giving her psychedelic drug. She also alleged that he recorded a nude video and threatened her. The woman did undergo a medical test to prove police the same. 

Meanwhile, soon after the allegations surfaced online, Vijay Babu hosted a Facebook Live, in which he called himself the ‘victim’ in the situation and even named the complainant, which is in violation of oue law. He said that the complainant has auditioned with him for a role and got it. He claimed that he has known the woman since 2018 but never spoke to her afterwards till 2021. The actor, who is the founder of a film production company 'Friday Film House', also said that he would file a defamation suit and counter-case against the woman and won't let her 'get away easily'. 

The police have issued a lookout notice for actor Vijay Babu who has reportedly absconded and a search is said to have begun outside Kerala. The actor is charged under the IPC sections 376 (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
