In the recently announced 66th National awards, the Bollywood movie URI The surgical strike won the national awards in various important categories competing with many more popular and critically successful movies from various industries.

However there was one doubt existing among netizens and it was on how URI became eligible for the National award for 2018 films though it was released in 2019. The movie based on the surgical strike was released on January 11 this year and collected more than 250 crores.

It was revealed that the criteria for a movie to be eligible for nomination was that the movie must have been certified by Central Board of Film Certification between January 1 and December 31 2018, and URI had received its censor certificate on December 31. The movie received Best actor award for Vicky Kaushal, Best director for Aditya Dhar, Best Sound Design Bishwadeep Dipak Chatterjee and Best background score Shashwat Sachdev.
