'Lock Upp', the new reality show in the town, has run into legal trouble. It was supposed to be premiered on OTT on Sunday (Feb 27). But its premiere has been indefinitely suspended in a surprising turn of events.
Earlier on Saturday, the Hyderabad City Civil Court issued a stay order on the reality show, which is being produced by the famous producer Ekta Kapoor. Hosted by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut (seen last year in 'Thalaivi'), the show's premiering is now in limbo.
"An ad-interim injunction was issued today after a hearing. The court checked the documents of one Sanober Baig (a Hyderabadi businessman), who petitioned the court saying that he is the sole right holder of the story and the script of the concept of the reality show, originally titled as per his script as ‘The Jail’," a source says.
The court apparently felt that the concepts of 'The Jail' and 'Lock Upp' are similar. The petitioner said that the show is an absolute copy of his idea.
Earlier, a case of copyright infringement was filed against Alt Balaji (OTT platform), Balaji Telefilms (banner), MX Player (streaming platform), Endemol Shine, Ekta Kapoor and Endemol Shine.
