Asset Homes, a real-estate company, has offered to convert India's thousands of trains into isolation wards. In a letter addressed to Narendra Modi, the company has said that Indian Railways' 12,617 trains can be made to host one crore beds with ease.
Each train has got 24-30 coaches. At any point of time, two trains can be stationed at each railway station.
From a consultation room to a medical store and an ICU, everything can be set up in each train by making "simple alterations", the letter from Asset Homes says.
The company has promised to do all this for free. "We would be extending this service at no cost, out of humanitarianism," the letter says.
