Director Karan Razdan, the director with the constant smile on his face, is all charged up about his next film, Souten, which is due for release. Razdan told IndiaGlitz he is aiming for a February 24th release worldwide, and expects the film to do well, especially due to its storyline.

Souten, starring Mahima Chaudhry, Gulshan Grover, Padmini Kolhapure and newcomers Kiran Rathore and Vikram Singh in lead roles, has music by the magical duo of Anand Milind who, years ago, had given Hindi film music its biggest shot in the arm with their lilting score for QSQT. Another good actor making a comeback is Padmini Kolhapure, who plays a restraining influence on Mahima Chaudhry’s character, who is having an affair with the boyfriend (Vikran Singh) of her step daughter (Kiran Rathore) thereby making both, mother and daughter, soutens of each other!

The curtainraiser of the film, screened at the music launch in Mumbai recently, showed Mahima at her best in recent times, with a powerful role that gives her the rare opportunity to show off both, her acting prowess and her sex appeal. And Gulshan Grover is, for once and interestingly so, is cast as a good man but with a short fuse which explodes when he hears of his wife’s dalliance with his daughter’s lover!
