Once the king of small screen like TN Seetharam, Ravikiran (grandson of legendary SV Ranga Rao) has sidelined from Television production, direction and acting because of change in the calculations of television bosses. He has acted in nearly 50 films in Kannada but TV was always his forte.
It is very difficult for people like me to make big films. Cinema industry is such that it asks for huge money with top ranking actors. When money is poured it should bounce back very well – then only there is point in investing.
On the television front in the last two years I have visited many big heads but they all hear to the concept. They do not decide on giving slots. Out of fifty people hardly three gets the chance. Senior like me who did ‘Baduku’ television mega serial that ran for 13 years, Shakthi that wet for 545 episodes the TV heads make me to wait. I have given open challenge to give me money after fifty episodes of telecast. Even after this challenge no one is giving opportunity.
So in order to keep myself busy I have ventured in to international Kabbaddi event management with over 70 countries participating in it.
For the television makers – there are nearly 60 TV serials currently under production; Ravikiran makes a humble appeal to give work for the senior actors. Once the faces become popular they do not get opportunity. In my opinion nearly 500 artists are sitting at home without job.
Cinema today is not like the past. It is not larger than life kind of profession. The films are made in 5D
