'Ramarao On Duty' is Venu Thottempudi's comeback film. The 'Swayamvaram' (1999) actor will be seen as a circle-inspector named Murali in this film.
Director Sarath Mandava has said that Venu was roped in because his body language looks witty. "Imagine such an actor sharing screen space with someone like Ravi Teja garu. The scenes in their combination are going to entertain the audience. Most of the scenes that Venu garu has got in the movie are with the hero," Mandava, who is debuting in Telugu as a director, says.
The director was keen on casting only Venu for the role. "Initially, he was reluctant to do the film. He was not willing to even listen to the script. I insisted and persisted. After I gave the narration, he hugged me and told me he will do the film," Mandava recounts.
Venu has been a businessman, staying away from the world of cinema. He is undecided about continuing to do films for now. Venu's early filmography was successful. SV Krishna Reddy's 'Pellam Oorelithe' in 2003 was a blockbuster. 'Hanuman Junction' in 2001 was a big hit as well. 'Chiru Navvuto' in 2000 had a 175-day run. Venu was seen as Jr NTR's relative in 'Dammu'.
