The Supreme Court-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee members Kapil Dev, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shanta Rangaswamy met today in Mumbai to interview and select the new head coach of Team India. Ravi Shastri has been handed over the reins for the second consecutive term and will hold the post till the T20I World Cup in 2021.
West Indian Phil Simmons who was tipped to be the favorite to coach the senior Men's cricket team pulled out of the fray this morning while Mike Hassen and Tom Moody who were the other shortlisted candidates failed to make the cut. Ravi Shastri took over as the coach two years earlier and has had his share of successes and failures with the team failing to go into the finals in the recent ODI World Cup drawing criticisms on him. However he shares a close bonding with the Indian captain Virat Kohli and most of the other players as well.
