Karan Johar's debut film as a director, "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai," has retained its popularity among fans for over 25 years since its release, achieving cult status. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, the film's timeless appeal has made it a classic in Indian cinema.
In a recent interview, Raveena Tandon revealed that she was initially approached for the role later played by Rani Mukerji. Currently immersed in promoting her upcoming web series, "Karmma Calling," Raveena expressed regret over turning down certain projects, including "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai." She disclosed that Karan Johar still holds her 'accountable' for declining the film and shared insights into her decision-making process, stating, "Yar tu mujhse aur kuchh bhi kara le (Offer me something different)."
In a previous interview with ANI, Raveena elaborated on her decision, citing her contemporaneity with Kajol and the preference for substantial roles. She clarified, "I couldn’t have done a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where I probably had a smaller role like Rani."
Karan Johar, reflecting on the film's creation in a special interview last year, acknowledged influences from Bollywood legends like Yash Chopra, Sooraj Barjatya, and Raj Kapoor. Despite initial uncertainty, the film became his 'one big dream.'
Meanwhile, Raveena Tandon anticipates the premiere of "Karmma Calling," where she portrays the powerful and affluent character Indrani Kothari. Directed by Ruchi Narain, the series will be available for streaming on Disney+Hotstar starting January 26, offering audiences a fresh perspective on Raveena's versatile acting skills.
