The rise of OTT platforms in Hindi entertainment industry proved to be beneficial for the audience as well as the actors. While truly skilled actors got platforms to express their talents properly, the audience finally got to appreciate content which was actually good and didn't necessarily made fun of their intelligence.
In a recent conversation with India Today, actress Rasika Dugal talked about the significance of OTT platforms on her career. She stated, "I am grateful for the streaming explosion when I kind of started off. It has changed my life. I did not have access to such a wide audience before my work on streaming services. Before that, despite all the films I did, unfortunately, it does not get the recognition it deserved. I remember I did this film called Qissa which had only been released in two theatres in Mumbai. I really felt a loss at that time of not having a wide audience. However, with the streaming services coming in, things changed. It's not like you really need to be a 'star' for your work to get recognized on OTT. I think that's a very healthy and thriving space."
Sharing her views on cinema vs OTT tussle, Rasika said, "I don't think of it like that. I feel if one medium thrives, the other will also. I do think if there is any conversation that comes from people within my system and the people who I interact with, the actors and everyone, it is about hoping that the film business does pick up for everybody and for all of us working in the industry."
