Rashmika Mandanna hails from Karnataka but her mother tongue is not Kannada. She speaks in the Kodava Takk language at home. The star actress talked about her mother tongue in a recent interview.

"After watching the trailer, my mother asked me what 'Pulupu' means. She wondered if it means picnic," the 'Dear Comrade' actress began saying, laughing out loud. She also added that her mother tongue is Kodava Takk, which is a mixture of a bit of Malayalam and Tamil and is a minority tongue in Karnataka. Also known as the Coorgi language, it's historically known as a dialect of Kannada. Wikipedia says that it has been re-analysed as a language by early 20th century academics.

Rashmika has played Srivalli, a village belle in 'Pushpa: The Rise', which hit the screens today. Starring Allu Arjun as the hero, the film is directed by Sukumar. The actress will also be seen in 'Pushpa: The Rule' opposite Bunny. Her performance in the latest box office release is receiving accolades.
