Mammootty's Prajapathy is gearing up fast to see an early release. Being directed by Ranjith, the movie features Mammootty in the role of a village chieftain.

"The story unfolds in a village, a fictitious land on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Mammootty unites the village with a chord of amity. He is called to settle family feuds involving his father's younger brother. The story takes a different turn with the arrival of Srinivasan", Ranjith says. Sharada Ramanathan of 'Sringaram' plays the heroine. Also in the cast includes Thilakan, Siddique, Sai Kumar, Maniyanpilla Raju, Seema and Sandhya.

"My character in Prajapathi believes in doling out good to the good, bad to the bad and ugly to the ugly. He is like a feudal lord and confines his sorrows and joy to himself."
