Just couple weeks ahead of its release, Kabir Khan's sports drama '83' has landed into a legal trouble. A complaint has been filed against the makers for alleged cheating and fraud in production of the project. According to reports in India Today and TOI, Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Mumbai registered a complaint in which a UAE based businessman alleged that he invested 16 crore rupees in the film after Vibri Media promised his company good profit.
Advocate Rizwan Siddiqui, who represented the complainant, states that the money was channelled into various agreements without the consent of investor. Thus a complaint of cheating and criminal conspiracy was filed against Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and Deepika Padukone since they have co-produced the film.
'83' starring Ranveer Singh is a cinematic adaptation of Indian cricket team's winning crusade in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Apart from Ranveer and Deepika, it also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar and Ammy Virk and others.
