Bollywood star Ranveer Singh appeared before the Mumbai police and recorded his statement on Monday, nearly a month after an FIR was registered against him over his nude photoshoot for an international magazine.
The actor reportedly showed up at the Chembur police station on Monday between 7 am and 9.30 am on Monday to make an official statement on the case. Sources close to ETimes quoted Ranveer as saying that had not uploaded the controversial pictures, and added that he didn’t realise that this photoshoot could create trouble for him. A police official reportedly also informed that the actor might be called again if required. Ranveer, in his bold photoshoot, apparently paid tribute to legendary actor Burt Reynolds, who was considered a sex symbol and an icon of American pop culture.
Following the publication of the pictures from the photoshoot for Paper magazine, an FIR was registered against Ranveer Singh at the Chembur police station on July 26 by Lalit Tekchandani, an office bearer of an NGO, under sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67A of the Information Technology Act.
