As word spread that Ranveer Singh will be working with HanuMan director Prashanth Varma, excitement skyrocketed. The much rumored Rakshas project was supposed to include Ranveer in a nuanced, grey-scale part.
Rakshas was supposed to be a mythological superhero movie set in the pre-independence era. It was supposed to be finished before Jai HanuMan, the HanuMan follow-up. Though some sources say the movie may be shelved entirely, other rumors indicate that Prashanth Varma is already looking for a new protagonist to replace Ranveer Singh. Though there are conflicting reports, it is generally agreed that the much awaited partnership has been called off.
April had seen Ranveer Singh come to Hyderabad for a picture session meant to herald the movie's big debut. “Ranveer went to Hyderabad in April for a photo shoot to announce the film,” a source told Pinkvilla. There has been a setback to the formal announcement, though. Rakshas under Prashanth Varma will no longer include Ranveer Singh. Creative differences have caused them to part ways amicably.”
Given that he and Deepika Padukone are expecting their first child in September, some rumors suggest that Ranveer Singh is putting his family first. The actor wants to enjoy fatherhood by taking a paternity break after finishing his work obligations.
Currently in development are Basil Joseph's Shaktimaan, which promises to be a new chapter in Indian superhero flicks, and Farhan Akhtar's Don 3, in which Ranveer takes Shah Rukh Khan's position. He also stars in a movie alongside Aditya Dhar that is rumoured to be The Immortal Ashwatthama, although specifics are few.
Though they split ways, Ranveer Singh and Prashanth Varma have worked things out peacefully and are still willing to work together in the future.
