Bollywood heartthrob Ranveer Singh faced some friendly fire online after his attempt to endorse Indian island tourism. In a now-deleted tweet, the actor shared a stunning picture. of the Maldives, which he clearly mistakenly labelled as one of the Indian islands.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out the geographical gaffe, prompting Singh to swiftly rectify the error. He removed the picture and posted the message again, this time with a renewed call for exploring India's diverse coastal gems: "This year, let's make it about exploring India and experiencing its beauty. Chalo India!"

While the mishap inspired some amusing tweets, it didn't take away from Singh's larger message. The archipelagos like Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India's abode offer a unique perspective on landscapes and distinct cultural experiences. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in recent times, has lauded the allure of Lakshadweep while sharing pictures from his underwater adventures there.

Also finding traction in the campaign, "Explore Indian Islands," are celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Akshay Kumar, among others, lending their voices. Their effort is to tempt dome tourists and show them that India itself throws up island treasures in plenty.
