Director Ranjith's movies ('Attakathi' and 'Madras') revolved around the lives of the 'less privileged', and he has now started a trust called Neelam for their development.

The trust, floated by Ranjith and like minded friends, will equip the needy children and youngsters with tuition classes, spoken English course, and training in dance, singing and other art forms.

Two centres have already been started (at Vysarpadi and at Ranjith's native village near Avadi) and plans are on to start more. "We want to lend a hand to those who want to come up in life," says Ranjith, who is expected to start his next project soon.
