The Kollywood strike is into its 35th day with no new releases and film shootings and other related works works too coming to a standstill. The Producers Council have many demands most importantly to address the exhorbitant VPF charges by the digital service providers and for theaters all over the state to be computerised to derive at the exact collection amount.
Due to the strike the theaters were playing other language films and old Tamil films and the latest Telugu release 'Rangasthalam' starring Ram Charan Teja and Samantha is doing good business. The Telugu Film Producers Council has decided to give a helping hand to the TFPC and have agreed to stop new Telugu releases in Tamil Nadu from the 8th of April. The Telugu films that are already showing would also be discontinued.
