Speaking at the pre-release event of 'Rangasthalam', Chiranjeevi was all praise for the film's cast and crew, especially Ram Charan, Sukumar, DSP, and art director Ramakrishna.
He began the speech by hailing Vizag as his second home where he would like to retire peacefully. "Being here, I am always reminded of the hit songs I shot here for 'Challenge', 'Abhilasha', 'Aradhana', and 'Gharana Mogodu. People here have a beautiful heart," he said.
About the film's producers, the Megastar said, "Although they have done only three films thus far, the amount of goodwill they have gained is enormous. Every hero wants to work with them."
About Sukumar, he said, "Sukumar has made a pure village-based film that is untouched by any artificial gloss or pollution. When he narrated the story to me, I was wondering how he would tell the story of local politics. I wanted to see how far he will retain the emotions and sustain the interest till the end. I have watched the movie and I must tell you he has made an arresting film. In most village-based films, glamour is introduced here and there. But 'Rangasthalam' is so pure and natural from start to end. I was moved emotionally on watching the movie."
About his son Ram Charan, Chiru said, "This film will increase the stardom of Charan. I am jealous of him as an artist. As a dad, I am proud. When Sukumar told me that the hero's character is speech-impaired, I was in two minds about its pros and cons. Will the fans accept? On watching the movie, I went into a trance. His performance in Aadhi Pinisetty's death scene is awesome. My wife Surekha hugged Charan and cried after watching the rushes."
Devi Sri Prasad came in for praise for completing the songs in 4.5 days. "It shows his dedication, commitment, and concentration powers. Chandrabose garu is my favourite person. Although he is a Telangana bidda, he has penned the songs for this film set in the Godavari so well. The title song is so philosophical," Chiru said.
"A part of the film was shot in a set erected over 25 acres at Jubilee Hills. It's so incredible you will think it's a real village. Good art directors make innovative, glossy sets. Great ones make sets that don't come across as sets," he said.
Chiru added that Jagapathi Babu's performance in the film is so subtle. He revealed that Prakash Raj's character is not long in terms of run-time but is important to the story.
