'Rangasthalam' controversy: Why it's awkward for creators

Recently, a writer alleged that 'Rangasthalam' had a plagiarized element in it. Prakash Raj's character, first saved from death by the hero (Ram Charan), is eventually killed by this very character. This element, incidentally, is very much there in the writer's script named 'Ukkupadam'.
Faced with a serious charge, Sukumar duly clarified stating that the idea was entirely conceived by him. He made it clear that he didn't copy it from 'Ukkupadam'.
To be sure, such allegations are not new. Some of them are so superficial that it's difficult to see it as anything other than a mere coincidence. When star directors/writers find themselves explaining plagiarism charges, it's awkward for them. The copycat tag is easily given by large sections of audiences, who are more likely to believe that someone just committed plagiarism.
