Randeep Hooda hits the bottle

Randeep Hooda played an earnest cop in 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' and had challenged Emraan Hashmi in the film. However in the next film when he is getting into a face-off with Emraan in 'Jannat 2', his characterisation is taking a slight twist. Instead of being a righteous cop who couldn't set a foot wrong, he is playing a chronic alcoholic in a uniform.
"Whenever an actor plays a cop in a 'masala' film, a certain quirk indeed sets his own identity. Salman Khan had a funny side to him in 'Dabangg' while Ajay Devgn maintained a tough exterior in 'Singham'. Now Randeep has taken an altogether different route by hitting the bottle in 'Jannat 2'. Those who have had a dekko at some of his scenes in the film have been bowled over by the way he has let himself loose", informs an industry insider.
Though the makers (Bhatts) took a conscious call of not overtly exposing him through promos, it is being said that as Salim Khan, Randeep is an absolute riot on screen.
When contacted, director Kunal Deshmuh said, "Well, all I can see is that a cop like this is as interesting as it gets. As a Delhi cop, Randeep is extremely important to the film and after Emraan, he is most integral to the plot along with Esha Gupta."
