Hindu mythological epic Ramayan has been a subject for numerous films and TV shows. Most of these projects lacked in one or the other and failed to capture the grandiosity of Ramayan. Now filmmaker Madhu Mantena is all set to retell the epic tale on a grand scale in his next project. Directed by Nitesh Tiwary, the film is set to star superstars Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Hrithik is supposed to play the menacing antagonist Raavan while Ranbir is rumored to portray Lord Ram. Latest reports in various news outlets suggest that the film is being developed as a three part project with a grand budget. A report in Bollywood Hungama stated that both Ranbir and Hrithik are going to receive 75 crore rupees each for their roles. While 150 crore seems like the budget of an entire film or box office collection of a successful film, it is just a fraction of the actual budget of Madhu Mantena's Ramayan.

The project is said to have a total budget of around 750 crore rupees. With so many skilled artists and resources involved, this project might become a benchmark in Indian cinema.
