Ranam
Gopichand's career has always been a fight over extreme odds. The muscular and robustly handsome man began his career as a villain on screen. But through his dedication and sincerity, he has managed to become a mass hero.
His career as a hero has been patchy though. His last release Andhrudu was successful only in pockets. But somebody like Gopichand can be expected to bounce back very quickly. And everyone thinks that his Ranam has the capacity to strike it rich.
Ranam is a mass entertainer, an omnibus term that refers to the fact that it would have all the typical ingredients that an average cine-goer would want. Gopichand's films also take time to arrive. But on most occasions they are worth the wait.
Directed by Amma Rajasekhar, the film has plenty of good songs, fights and some acceptable emotions. Amma Rajasekhar, if you know, is making his debut as a director through Ranam. But he is an industry veteran as he has been a well-known choreographer.
This is the season of choreographers graduating to film direction. Prabhu Deva and Lawrence Raghavendra have successfully proved that. Rajasekhar hopes to join that illustrious league.
The film's heroine is Kamna Jethmalani. The young actress is still looking for the right break in Telugu. After her debut here, she has shifted to Tamil. But Ranam's success can bring her back here again.
Ranam's audio is already doing good business. Set to tunes by Mani Sharma, the songs have an instant attraction.
Rajasekhar says the film's script would suit Gopichand's image. It is an out and out mass film, he declares emphatically.
Producer Pokuri Babu Rao says the film has all it takes to be a hit.
Let's hope so.
