Talking to IndiaGlitz, Rana Daggubati has suggested that the media is losing its principled ways of late. He said this in the context of talking about why disproportionate focus on film celebs doing drugs is wrong.

"It (drugs) is a serious problem yes, but it's not that serious if a 40-year-old individual is doing drugs. If you want to do it, it's bad for you. It's not bad for me or anybody else. What is the scary part is that we have heard that even school children are doing drugs. They are too young to make an informed call. We are old enough; if we do drugs, it's our problem. That's what the focus should be. What if a bunch of actors is doing drugs? I am OK if they are dying. We have to find the right ways to cleanse this out of the system," he said.

Asked if the drugs scandal is not bringing bad name to Tollywood, Rana said "This is how the media operates. A few months ago when 'Baahubali' was released, they were hailing Telugu cinema as the greatest evolving industry in the country. One minute later, they say, 'Everybody is doing drugs; they are bad people'. Each days' news is worth only for that day. What they call me on a day doesn't matter to me at all. News is very, very short-lived. The idea of the principled press is dying. The media is supposed to tell us how our society is conducting itself. As a film actor, I want to know what my society is. Hardly a fraction of the society is into films. What about others? Tell us about that. If breaking items of what some celebs are doing is news, then you have something seriously wrong with what you are watching and saying."
