It's time for a biopic of an iconic wrestler. He is Kodi Rammurthy Naidu, who is called the Indian Hercules and Kaliyuga Bhima. British King George himself had christened him as the latter years after the champion's rise in 1900s. A film on such a great man is fitting.
Rana Daggubati, who is a huge fan of Kodi, will essay him on the silver screen. "The actor grew up reading about him in text books. It would be a dream role for the 'Baahubali' star and a fitting tribute to the legendary wrestler from South India," the makers say.
"With an undefeated record of over 5000 bouts, Kodi Rammurthy Naidu was a brave-heart who made wrestling a great sport. Bodybuilding was his passion. It spurred him to become the undefeated champion of the wrestling world and fueled India’s independence movement," the makers observe.
Who will direct the movie? "A top director is already in talks to helm the project and if all goes well, the shooting of the film is soon to start. The story has been registered with the writers’ association and the pre-production is currently in progress," they add.
The biopic will be produced in collaboration with a top production house in South and a major international studio.
