Initially there were rumours that, actresses Lavanya Tripathi and Shriya Saran have been approached for the role of Rana's wife in the film. But they denied it and showed interest that they would love to do the role if offered.

Recently, Rana Daggubati opened up saying that; "Bhallaladeva doesn't have time for women but only to romance the throne. In case there are new actors roped in for the project, an official announcement would be made. As for his role in the second part of Baahubali`, the actor stated that he will be meaner and more villainous than in the first part." He also added saying that, filmmaker Rajamouli has already started filming part 2 and it is all set to release in 2017. This time it will be bigger and better".
