Rana Daggubati has announced yet another film. This new project will be a period drama where the hunk will play Marthanda Varma, the legendary King of Travancore, whose reign lasted 29 years from 1729-58.

It seems Varma's heroic fight against the Dutch colonialists will be the major highlight of this Rana movie. Known for building a powerful army and also boosting maritime trade during his reign, Varma was a child prodigy. When he advised the then king Ravi Varma to sign a pact with Madurai Nayaks "in order to check the power of the nobles and other rebellious chieftains," he was all of 14! Born as Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma in 1705, he was 53 when he died in 1758.

The film's pre-production works are going on. To be directed by K Madhu, it has been written by Robin Thirumala.
