Ramya Chaitra Kala
Channa lives in Hulkel, a small village in Malnad, Karnataka. He is the kind who is always around for any kind of help anyone might require. He lives with his mother. There is a small change in things when Sharma the post master comes to live in this village with his daughter Shobha.
The young girl is impressed by Channa but is irked by the fact that the other villagers are using Channa for their vested interests. She advises Channa not to become a scapegoat for others problems. Channa behaves on the advice of Shoba and he respects her a lot. This friendship later develops to love.
One particular incident leads to a lot of confusion and then turmoil. A village girl Pali who is in love with another boy was trying to elope, but is caught by Shoba who hands over the girl to her parents. This throws up a tragedy and Shoba becomes responsible for the suicide of Pali. Shoba repents so much that she decides that married life is not meant for her.
In another incident, Shobha's dear friend Shalini is saved by Channa before she commits suicide. Shalini's friend Sudhakara disowns her and therefore Shoba convinces Channa to marry Shalini instead.
The story takes a sudden twist when people realise the Pali is not dead but instead is living happily with her husband. To find out what happens next, wait for the movie.
