Actor Ramarajan, the most powerful Kollywood star of the 1980s and has been a staunch loyalist of late Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha and the AIADMK party. He is also a former MP of the AIADMK party.

Jayalalitha has always had showered Ramarajan with motherly affection. In a surprising move by her, Ramarajan was offered an MP ticket in the 12th Lok Sabha Elections conducted in the 1998. Ramarajan lived up to the confidence reposed on him by his leader as he was elected with a huge vote share.

Recently Ramarajan was met with a serious accident. Party supremo Jayalalitha ensured that he was give the best possible treatment and also took care of the expenses for the treatment.

Now in the event of the Iron Lady leader's death, Ramarajan has voiced support for Jayalalitha's foster sister Sasikala to take over the reins of the party by assuming the charge of AIADMK's General Secretary.

It is to be noted that all the ministers, MLAs and MPs have requested Sasikala for the supreme post of Tamil Nadu's ruling party with the largest number of cadres in the state.
