Ram Gopal Varma Questions Cases Against Him Sharing a Video

Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his bold statements and provocative posts, has once again found himself at the center of a legal storm. A year ago, Varma shared morphed pictures of prominent political figures, including Nara Lokesh, Pawan Kalyan, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, on social media.

Recently, multiple cases were filed against him over these posts, prompting the police to issue notices. Despite seeking extensions to respond, Varma has yet to comply, leading to speculation in the media that he is absconding.

In a surprising turn of events, Varma broke his silence through a video on his YouTube channel, defending his actions and addressing the allegations.

“I am extremely sorry to disappoint those thinking I am scared,” Varma began, dismissing rumors of his fear or evasion.

Acknowledging that he had posted controversial tweets on X a year ago, he claimed the complaints were filed not by the individuals he had targeted, but by third parties in four different jurisdictions within days of each other, and notably, long after the original posts were made.

“The irony is that the cases were not filed by those I tweeted about, but by unrelated third parties,” he pointed out, questioning the validity and timing of the complaints.

Varma went on to express his doubts about the merit of the cases and raised concerns about the legal system being used as a political tool. “There is a global phenomenon where political parties weaponize the police system. I am not blaming any specific politician or police officer. Eventually, the law of the land will decide, and as a citizen, I will abide by it,” he remarked.

Varma explained that he had received the notices and responded, requesting an extension due to his ongoing work commitments. “I informed the authorities that I would attend on a specific date. My work is incomplete, and if I don’t finish it, my producer will face losses,” he explained. However, he alleged that the urgency to pursue his arrest suggested ulterior motives.

“There are murder cases and other critical matters that take years to resolve. Yet, there seems to be an unusual haste in my case, raising questions about the intent behind it,” he added.
