Looks like his past "Aag" will keep burning his present (or maybe future)... Ram Gopal Varma's remake of 'Sholay', which turned out to be box office dud, is proving to be a very costly mistake for the filmmaker now.
As per media reports, RGV has been slapped with a fine of Rs.10 lakhs by the Delhi High Court. The filmmaker has to pay the said amount to the makers of 'Sholay', the Sippy family, for the "punitive damages" he had done by copying the blockbuster. According to Justice Manmohan Singh's statements, RGV's film 'Aag' "distorted and mutilated the original copyright work of the plaintiffs." Besides, the filmmaker was found to have "infringed the moral rights", by having released the remake without any authorization from the original film's makers..
