"The Hunting and Murdering of RHEA CHAKRABORTY ...Wahhhh what a Republic of India we have (sic)," lamented a sarcastic Ram Gopal Varma, taking to Twitter. With the alleged media trial on the Sushant Singh Rajput case reaching a peak, the filmmaker has come to the defence of Bollywood actress Rhea, who is all set to face questioning by the CBI.
RGV is particularly vocal against Republic TV's Arnab Goswami, who he sarcastically says is "a hundred notches above Mahatma Gandhi in his pursuit of truth".
RGV is also miffed with some of his colleagues in the film industry. "I am ashamed of my fellow colleagues in Bollywood. I feel sorry for Rhea Chakraborty," he said in a video statement.
But what about RGV himself doing films that have been accused of distorting the truth and resorting to character assassination? "My films were based either on fiction or on long-time documented truths, but never on ongoing investigations," RGV says.
