On Saturday evening, Narendra Modi's office hosted an event titled 'Change Within' to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It was a film industry-only event which saw an overwhelming presence of Bollywoodians. Superstars Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were conspicuous by their presence.
What struck everyone is that south Indian film industries were under-represented. Taking up the issue, Upasana, entrepreneur and Ram Charan's wife, wrote, “Dearest Modi ji, we in the south of INDIA admire you and are proud to have you as our PM. With all due respect, we felt that the representation of leading personalities, cultural icons at the event was limited only to Hindi artists. The South Film Industry was completely neglected. I hereby express my feelings with pain and hope it’s taken in the right spirit."
Dil Raju was present on the occasion. SP Balasubramaniam was invited. Rakul Preet Singh was there and she can be seen as representing the south more than Bollywood.
