- IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,October 13 2015]
Ram Charan and Rakul Preet Singh starrer 'Bruce Lee - The Fighter' will be releasing on 16th of this month and director Sreenu Vaitla is upbeat about it. He talks about the film, his rapport with Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi's cameo, what he learnt from the failure of 'Aagadu' etc in an interview.
Excerpts..
Very different
'Bruce Lee' is very different from my previous films. The story line of the movie is very good. There is good sentiment and the film is also entertaining. But I came out of the formula I've followed for a few years. The film is all about how a guy, who loves his family, faces extraordinary situations and how he fights it out. Ram Charan did an extraordinary job. His comedy timing in the film will be very good. Brahmanandam's character will be very entertaining. But he will not be see in regular 'Bakra' roles he played in my films. His character will be different.
Learnt from 'Aagadu' failure
Though I was upset after the failure of 'Aagadu', I realized my mistakes in a very few days. I stopped worrying and started working on the script of 'Bruce Lee'. We learn a lot from failures more than successes. I will not repeat the mistakes.
Composed like Chiranjeevi
More than remuneration, I love to have freedom when working for a movie and it is not easy to get freedom, when your previous film was a failure. But Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan gave me freedom for 'Bruce Lee' and I am very thankful to them. Chiranjeevi is a very composed person and he doesn't like to hurt others. Ram Charan got that quality. It is amazing to see his maturity levels at a very young age. I think it is because of the way he has been brought up. Charan is very caring and what many know is he has got a very good sense of humour. It is the reason why we share a very good rapport.
Chiranjeevi loved it
It has been a great working experience with Chiranjeevi. In 'Bruce Lee', he will be seen in a very important cameo. It is not easy to convince him. But he liked the character very much and agreed to play it.I worked with him previously for 'Andarivaadu'. But he looks very young and reminds of his 'Gang Leader' days with his role in this film.
No pressure
There was no pressure on me to wrap up the film quickly. I enjoyed the process and there has been a very good co-operation from my actors and technicians. Ram Charan shot for the last song for 24 hours continuously. I should thank cameraman Manoj Paramahamsa for his work. Though there was pressure on him, he gave a very good quality output, which you will get to see in the film.
Buried the hatchet
Kona Venkat, Gopimohan and I worked for many successful films. When you are working for many years together, there is a chance that differences arise. But they wanted to work with me and I wanted the same. So we buried the hatchet and worked with them. We share a very good rapport and I would love to work with them for many more films.Prakash Raj is a great actor and I would also love to work with him the future.
