Global stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR got an invitation to join the Academy, while RRR creator SS Rajamouli has been omitted. Surprisingly, even senior director Mani Ratnam, DOP Senthil Kumar, Sabu Cyril, Karan Johar and Siddharth Roy Kapur, in other categories.

MM Keeravani and Chandrabose in the Music department
Sabu Cyril in the Production Design Branch
Mani Ratnam and Chaitanya Tamhane in the Directors Branch
Shaunak Sen in the Documentary Branch
Siddharth Roy Kapur and Karan Johar in the Producers Branch
