Few months ago, it was announced that actress Rakul Preet Singh will play the lead role in a social comedy about a topic which is considered taboo in Indian society. The project titled 'Chhatriwali' was supposed to feature Rakul in the role of a condom tester. The latest buzz about the project suggests that the project has been shelved now.
The project was dropped by producer Ronnie Screwvala after a film with similar subject matter turned out to be a failure. Aparshakti Khurrana recently starred in a film titled 'Helmet' which also attempted to distigmatise the topic of contraceptives in society. The film dealt with different mindsets of people when it comes to condoms. Makers of 'Chhatriwali' were concerned that their film might meet the same fate and they decided to scrap the project altogether.
However, an another film starring Nushrratt Bharuccha is in development where the actress will seen playing a condom sales executive.
