Rakul Preet Singh, earlier this week, filed a petition with the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to be issued to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting to stop the media from airing news against her in the drugs case. The actress feels that the media has been running a slur campaign against her.
On Thursday, Rakul asked the court why it can't de-register a news channel if it is slandering her image. "One channel is doing all this without even knowing that (Bollywood actress) Rhea Chakraborty has retracted her statement," the 'Sarrainodu' actress told the court.
"News channels are showing my morphed pictures. They are concocting a narrative with the intention of hounding me. They want to link me to some sort of a drug gang," Rakul alleged. She added that media houses are harassing her by "coming to my house".
She urged the court to issue an ad-interim direction to stop broadcasting of "maligning and defamatory content".
The 'Nannaku Prematho' actress said that the "media trials violate my right under Article 21."
