Anupama Parameswaran awaits the release of 'Rakshasudu' on August 2. Starring Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas in the lead, it has been directed by Ramesh Varma. A content-driven flick

I had heard a lot of things about 'Ratsasan' before the remake came to me. The content is very strong and it's unlike what we watch hin regular commercial movies. I was particular that I should be a part of the film.

A challenging role

In the original, Amala Paul did the role. She expresses with her eyes powerfully. I thought this character is really important, it having been done by an experienced actress like her. I tried to improvize upon the character in my own way. This is my second remake, the first being 'Premam'. People are going to compare with Amala Paul. Exact imitation is not possible, as my body language is different. I borrowed the emotions of the character and retained them.

Original flavour kept intact

The basic content of the film is the same as the original. Making changes and damaging wouldn't be good. It's a very simple character that I have played. I never played a teacher's role before. I don't know how the audience are going to receive it, as it's a very matured character.

Working with the hero

Srinivas is very young and we are of the same age group. It was fun working with him. Whenever light scenes were shot, we had lots of fun. He is very hardworking and he has this urge to give the best, no matter how many takes it might take.

Ramesh Varma garu is a very sweet person. He is meticulous and particular about even things like get-up, expressions on the posters, etc.

Used to wearing sarees

I like thrillers so much. Thrillers are racy. I am happy to have done one now. I feel it's a glamourized role. She is a teacher and, obviously, she has to look mature and responsible for the nature of the genre. I have always worn sarees and it was not difficult at all. I used to give a lot of stage shows wearing sarees even as a child.

Doing 'Ninnu Kori' remake

After 'Hello Guru Prema Kosame', I didn't get any satisfactory script in Telugu. I did a Malayalam film in the meanwhile. I will be doing a Tamil film soon. It will be a remake of 'Ninnu Kori'. Atharvaa will be its hero. Nivetha Thomas killed it in the original; I don't know how well I am going to do the job of reprising her role. I look for work satisfaction at the end of the day. Two projects are in the pipeline in Telugu.

Working as an AD

I have worked as an Assistant Director for a Malayalam movie. I am two shades darker now because I didn't wear any make-up and allowed myself to be tanned for many days. I want to do an ultra-realistic film. It's my wish.

Link-up with Jaspring Bumrah

It's true that I have been linked up with the cricketer. I have nothing to comment on that. I just don't want to speak about that.

Comfortable with Telugu

There was a time when a lack of knowledge of Telugu used to trouble me. But I am comfortable of late. Since I have been doing films here, I am in a comfort zone, I know people, I have support systems here.

Want to play tough roles

As an actor, I am not yet satisfied. I need to play characters that challenge me. I am yet to get such roles. I am getting good scripts, though. 'Ninnu Kori' remake in Tamil is going to be such a challenge. I may be impressed by my character, the team involved, the story, or anything for that matter. Any of these can make me want to do a film. I had a negative role in 'A Aa'. I have gone to play contrasting roles since that one.

I would have loved to play Sai Pallavi's character in 'Fidaa' or a film like 'Mahanati'. Such characters let an actress show a new side to her. People keep asking me about missing out on 'Rangasthalam'. I am a human and yes, I feel disappointed a bit. But Samantha has done it so well with ease. She did it much better than me.
