Peppy tunes from Devisri Prasad
Monday, December 18, 2006 • Telugu Comments

Young Tiger NT Rama Rao is craving for a big hit especially in the wake of a disaster like 'Narasimha'. He needs a good break to cut the ice. 'Rakhee' which has a rare combination of a Creative Director like Krishnavamsi wielding the megaphone has high expectations. Moreover the latest heartthrob of Telugu audiences, Ileana is pairing up with NTR and the sizzling Charmme is playing another heroine. Hope this film with sister sentiment in its backdrop would bring back the glory of NTR. Though a couple of songs were routine, Devisri Prasad took all precautions to attract not only the masses, but also the general public with his peppy tunes.

Rangu rabba rabba.. Singers: Amal Raj, Priya

This looks a situational song with Holy as its backdrop. It starts with western beat, changes into traditional mass tune and the drum beat denotes that the music director is giving ample scope to perform by the artistes. There was also a humming that reminds us of Hindi songs. The use of tabla after the first stanza gives a different rhythm to the audiences and gives a nice feeling to listen. Before the second stanza, music director Devisri Prasad made use of the car horns and other sound pollution to give the song a true situational colour. The third stanza has good literary value. The song had a rhythm that makes the audiences dance to the tune because of its drum beat sound and perfect foot tapping rhythm.

Zara Zara  Singer: Andrea

This is a romantic number. At the same time the literary values in the song are good. The tune was so mellifluous that it take the audiences to some other world. The use of bass guitar, and the Congo drums and electric guitar sound, get a boost with the humming of zara zara coupled heavy drumbeat was fantastic. Andrea's voice was so husky and the drum beat after the first stanza in Dubai (Arabian) style is nice. Though the song has a very slow rhythm, it was quite husky which enhanced its melody.

Vasthavaa.. Vasthavaa.. Singers: Jassie Gift, Srilekha Parthasarty..

This number is tuned in folk beat. The lyric was scripted in typical rural slang and the voice of Jassie Gift and Srilekha did perfect justice to the rhythm. However, the song was tuned keeping the mass audiences in view. It   has heavy sounds of drum beat and lots noise which has lots of commercial values. An above average number, worth listening once.

Rakhee Rakhee  Singers: Devisri Prasad and Mamata Mohan Das

This is the title song and rendered by Devisri Prasad himself and Malayalam girl Mamata Mohandas joined the music director while rendering this song. The audiences won't get the feeling of listening a song from a non-Telugu girl. The bulbul tune in the beginning produced by guitar and the Shehnai tune enhanced the melody of the song. The tune is quite peppy and worth foot tapping. The drumbeat before the second stanza with heavy drum beat is quite catchy and has good mass appeal. The background score in classical tune is also nice to listen.

Kallallo Kaalaagni  Singer: SP Balasubrahmanyam

This number seems to be a playback song. Music director Devisri Prasad begins the song with a verse sounds like Kalika Stotram and chose the right singer like SP Balasubrahmanyam to render this song. The song has full of thunder and those listening song themselves would get the feeling to get ready for a battle. Yet the song has the interludes of melody which helps the audiences understand the situation even while listening the song. The use of musical instruments was quite boosting the situation. The solo song has all the qualities of morale booster and melody.

Ninnu Choosthe  Singers: Sh
