Sanjana Reddy is all set to debut as a director with 'Raju Gadu', due for release on June 1. She was inspired by Ram Gopal Varma to become a director. Incidentally, RGV's 'Officer' too is releasing on the same date.
I was into IT sector to begin with. I worked with two channels later as a journalist. I once happened to meet RGV garu through a friend. I joined him as an assistant director for Mohan Babu garu's 'Rowdy'. I had since aspired to become a director seeing RGV garu's commitment, she says.
Sanjana's self-confidence grew when she was asked by Amala to direct an ad. I took up the assignment immediately. And everybody liked my work. I have been to Singapore and Malaysia with the desire to visit foreign countries. I read a number of books during that phase. I met so many people with an interest to develop stories. Meeting with Raj Tarun happened in the same way, she notes.
Raj Tarun's character attributes trigger a series of chain reactions in 'Raju Gadu'. He plays a youngster who suffers from Kleptomania. So, he compulsively steals stuff from others, due to which he loses too many jobs. His father (Rajendra Prasad) runs a supermarket for his son's livelihood. The comedy track between the two actors will be a treat to watch, Sanjana promises. She says that much thinking went into writing the hero's character.
For the debutante, cinema is all about telling a story beautifully. But for the interval and climax, 'Raju Gadu' is mostly slice-of-life, she signs off.
