Rajpal Yadav is very well known but underrated comedian of Bollywood. Although he usually plays dumb comic relief characters, he is actually very wise and deeply thoughtful about his job and the characters he plays. He has performed in movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Chup Chup Ke, Hera Pheri and others and apart from these, he was offered the lead role of most watched sitcom in India. Yadav was offered the role of Jetha Lal in 'Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma' but he turned it down.

When asked whether he regrets the decision, Rajpal was quick to deny and said, "No, no. The character of Jethalal is identified with a very fine actor, and I believe that an artist makes a character." He further added that every role is meant to be played by an ideal actor and he would never want to take away someone else's character. He said, "We are in the business of entertainment and I don’t want to do a character which another actor has already done."

He concluded by saying, "I hope that I get the good fortune to do the roles written for me but I don’t want the opportunity to play a character that another actor has already established."
