Superstar Rajnikanth was last seen in the Karthik Subbaraj directorial Petta released this Pongal, and after the success of the movie that also starred Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Malavika Mohanan, Rajnikanth is acting in Darbar.

Darbar is the 167th movie of the actor, and is directed by AR Murugadoss who had last directed Sarkar. This movie brings back Rajnikanth as a police officer after Pandian, and is being shot in Mumbai. Co-starring Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Yogi Babu and Suniel Shetty, Darbar will release on Pongal 2020.

The latest rumour is that, director AR Murugadoss has narrated another story to Rajnikanth which has impressed him, and reportedly has also given his nod, and that Darbar producers Lyca Productions itself might produce this movie. Though an official clarification is not out on this rumour, it must be noted that Rajnikanth was said to team with Siva after being impressed by Viswasam.
