After yet another series of speculation, Kamal Haasan's Raj Kamal Films Limited have confirmed that they will be releasing their film Vishwaroopam to theatres directly next Pongal. Previously, several distributors including Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green showed interest in the film, but negotiations didn't conclude in an agreement.

The news comes after Kamal Haasan wanted to tie up a deal with a major television channel and release the film simultaneously on TV along with it's release. The controversial idea quickly got shelved after heavy disapproval from the Tamil Nadu films association. There is also no word about the actor's desire to launch BluRays and DVDs to stores soon after the release. However, it appears now that the team will themselves be finding screens for the film. Despite the problems, the film is expected to hit a large amount of screens across Tamil Nadu.
