An ardent fan of Rajinikanth in Coimbatore attempted suicide in a bid to donate his kidney to the Superstar who is being treated in a Singapore hospital for breathing difficulties and kidney ailment.

Disturbed by reports in a section of the media that a kidney transplant operation had to be performed on Rajini, the fan Rajniraja Arockiasamy (40) reportedly consumed an overdose of sleeping pills.

On seeing him lying unconscious, relatives and neighbours rushed him to a hospital, where Arockiasamy told doctors that he wanted to end his life and donate the kidney to the actor.

Meanwhile, Rajini’s son-in-law Dhanush requested fans to not believe rumours. “He has not undergone a kidney transplant. Soon there will be a statement from the Superstar himself,” Dhanush said on Tuesday.
